You get a 6-core CPU, a 5-core GPU with Neural Accelerators, an updated 16-core Neural Engine for on-device AI, and 12GB of memory. Furthermore, you get a convenient eSIM-only setup worldwide, along with dual-frequency GPS. On top of that, the device includes Emergency SOS via satellite, Messages via satellite, and Crash Detection features.

Battery life is strong for such a thin device up to 27 hours of local video or 22 hours of streaming, depending on use. Adaptive Power in iOS 26 helps stretch your charge when you need it. Wireless charging goes up to 20W and fast charging gets you to about 50% in around 30 minutes with a 20W or higher adapter. If you need more time away from a charger, an optional MagSafe battery pack can extend use to roughly 40 hours.

Design

The Air iPhone is Apple’s biggest iPhone design change in years. It’s just 5.6mm (0.22 inches) thin and 165 grams (5.82 ounces) light—about 30% thinner and 25% lighter than the standard iPhone 17. Apple uses a Grade 5 titanium frame to keep the phone strong and resistant to bending. Tests show it flexes without damage and needs a lot of force to bend. Both the front and back use Ceramic Shield 2, which Apple says is tougher than standard glass; the front has 3× better scratch resistance than the iPhone 16 and this is the first iPhone with Ceramic Shield on the back, too.

On the back, there’s a horizontal camera plateau that holds the single rear camera. This raised area also makes room for the front camera parts, a speaker and Apple silicon, freeing up space inside for a larger battery while keeping the phone so thin. On the front, you get the Dynamic Island with an 18MP Centre Stage selfie camera and Face ID. The bottom has a USB-C port and a speaker. The left side includes the Action button and volume buttons and the right side has Camera Control and the power button.

SIM

  • Translate – Launch the Translate app to start text or conversation translation.
  • No Action – Turn the Action button off if you don’t want it to do anything.

Battery life (simple)

The iPhone Air uses a 3,149 mAh battery. It’s the smallest battery in Apple’s 2025 flagship phones but thanks to Apple’s chips and software tuning, it still lasts longer than the iPhone 16.

For everyday use, Apple rates it at up to 27 hours of local video playback or 22 hours of video streaming.

Charging is easy. Over USB-C, the iPhone Air can reach about 50% in 30 minutes with a 20W or higher power adapter. It doesn’t charge quite as fast as the iPhone 17 models; in testing, it typically draws around 18–19W.

Wireless charging works with Mag Safe at up to 20W (about 50% in ~30 minutes when using a 30W wall adapter with your Mag Safe charger). It also supports the newer Qi2.2 standard, which is likewise limited to 20W.

To help you get through busy days, Adaptive Power mode in iOS 26 automatically adjusts performance and background activity to save battery when it sees you’re using more power than usual.

Display 

The Air iPhone has a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED screen with a 2736 × 1260 resolution at 460 ppi. It gets very bright outdoors (up to 3,000 nits), supports 1,600 nits for HDR and hits 1,000 nits in normal use. For the Always-On display, it can dim down to 1 nit. You also get a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, HDR, P3 wide colour, plus HDR10 and Dolby Vision for vivid, true-to-life movies and photos.

Like the iPhone 17 Pro models, this new iPhone includes Pro Motion with an adaptive 1–120Hz refresh rate. That means smoother scrolling and better video and gaming. True Tone matches the screen’s white balance to your room light to ease eye strain. The glass has a fingerprint-resistant coating and a seven-layer anti-reflective coating to cut glare.

True Depth Camera & Face ID (simple)
